EST . 1986

Since first opening our doors at 57B High Street, Whitley’s Jewellers has become a quiet fixture of Godalming’s historic town centre. When we established the shop in 1986, the High Street was—as it is now—a place that celebrated independent craft and personal connection. We joined this community with a simple goal: to provide a traditional, specialist service that reflected the character of Surrey’s market towns. For nearly forty years, our storefront has remained a constant amidst the changing seasons of the town, offering a steady hand and an expert eye to generations of local families.

Our history is deeply rooted in the building itself. Nestled within a row of historic architecture, our shop has been the backdrop for countless personal milestones. We’ve had the privilege of seeing local couples choose their first rings here, only to return decades later to find a piece for a child’s graduation or a grandchild’s christening. It is this sense of continuity that defines us; we don’t just sell jewellery, we look after the stories that those pieces represent.

By staying true to our 1986 origins, we have avoided the fleeting nature of modern "fast-fashion" retail. Instead, we have focused on the endurance of the pieces we curate and the relationships we build. We take great pride in being custodians of a traditional trade in the heart of Godalming, continuing to offer the same focused, face-to-face service today as we did on our very first morning 39 years ago.
